We have five experienced and highly trained doctors who can help with any skin cancer related concern.
Our nurses assist with skin checks, minor surgery and other treatments. They also manage post-operative care, and are a great source of advice and support.
Barry is a Skin Cancer Doctor specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of melanoma and other skin cancers. He has completed advanced skin cancer training in New Zealand and Australia, and holds Diplomas in Dermatoscopy, Skin Cancer Medicine, and Skin Cancer Surgery.
Barry has a special interest in more complex skin surgery including flap reconstruction and skin grafts and makes every effort to ensure the best possible cosmetic outcome. He is a Southern Cross Affiliated Provider, an SCCA Accredited Skin Cancer Doctor and a full member of New Zealand Skin Cancer Doctors Society.
In his spare time Barry enjoys river fishing, the outdoors and downtime with his wife and three children.
Anthony is a Skin Cancer Doctor who prides himself on excellence in both the diagnosis and management of skin cancers. He holds Diplomas in both Dermatoscopy and Skin Cancer Surgery.
Anthony enjoys all aspects of skin surgery and aims to provide a high quality service to his patients with excellent surgical outcomes. He also enjoys providing education on the prevention of skin cancers.
Anthony is a Southern Cross Affiliated Provider.
When not working, Anthony likes to surf, run & cycle and is busy with his family.
Agata is originally from Poland and completed her medical training at Otago School of Medicine before moving to Hawkes Bay to complete her specialist General Practice training. She holds an Advanced Clinical Certificate in Dermatoscopy, an Advanced Certificate of Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery; and an International Dermoscopy Diploma (IDS). Agata is a Skin Cancer College of Australasia Accredited Skin Cancer Doctor , is a Full Member of New Zealand Skin Cancer Doctors and is a Southern Cross Affiliated Provider.
Additionally, Agata provides skin treatments using K-Laser Blue Derma - innovative laser technology that utilises blue light to produce a precise surgical effect, reduce tissue damage and stimulate skin to heal. Agata specialises in cosmetic lesion removal (moles, skin tags, seborrhoeic keratoses, sebaceous hyperplasia, angiomas) and offers pigmentation correction (age spots, sun pigment) in most skin types.
Initially trained and specialised in Central Africa, Hugh moved to New Zealand and further specialised in General Practice and then Urgent Care. He is an experienced skin cancer doctor and skin surgeon who has been treating the people of Hawke's Bay for many years.
Hugh now works part time in skin cancer practice, alongside running his family orchard, and is enjoying supporting the great work that Sun Medics Skin Clinic does for the community.
Natalie is from the UK, where she completed her medical training. She orginally embarked on a Surgical career, but in 2013 she emigrated to New Zealand with her husband, and subsequently trained to be a General Practitioner, maintaining an interest in minor surgical procedures. It was during this time that she developed a special interest in skin cancer, and has undertaken further training in these areas. She currently holds Certificates in Dermatoscopy and Skin Cancer Medicine & Surgery.
Natalie prides herself on building good rapports with patients and providing a high quality service.
Outside of work, Natalie is busy looking after her three young children and loves sport and the great outdoors.
Caroline is our Clinical Nurse Specialist. She holds a Certificate in Primary Care Skin Cancer Medicine and a Masters Degree in Nursing, with a focus on facial skin cancer surgical outcomes.
Claire is a specialist skin nurse and enjoys all aspects of patient care. She has completed advanced dermatoscopy training and offers full skin checks, cryotherapy and biopsies.
Gemma is experienced in and proficient at surgical assisting and wound care. She has completed skin cancer and basic dermatoscopy training.
Jo is an experienced surgical nurse and has completed further training in skin cancer.
